The Senior Men's Club of New Canaan, Connecticut, welcomes men 55 and older who reside, or own property in, New Canaan, CT. Founded in 1977, the SMC is affiliated with the New Canaan YMCA, but individual Y membership is not necessary. SMC membership applications are available here, at the YMCA on South Avenue or at our Friday 10 a.m. meetings at Morrill Hall at St. Mark's Church on Oenoke Ridge. Each weekly meeting features local, state and nationally known speakers. Visit the links below for the many additional activities of our SMC members. Round trip transportation is available for Senior Men's Club meetings by contacting the Getabout (972-7433) at least one day in advance.
While there is no charge for the round-trip, a voluntary donation of $6 is welcomed. |
Dr. Diane S. Schaupp will speak to us about "Opportunities for Psychological Development for Aging Adults." Dr. Schaupp is an author, psychologist, registered nurse, and an educator. An aging baby-boomer herself and a caregiver to elderly members of her family, she is eager to discard the outdated notion that aging is indicative of a time of decline. Dr. Schaupp has a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Fordham, and is board certified in the specialty of Counseling Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology.
