New Canaan Men's Club Logo
The New Canaan Men's Club of Connecticut, welcomes men 55 and older who reside, or own property in, New Canaan, CT. Non-residents are welcome to become members as long as they are proposed by a resident member and seconded by another member. Founded in 1977, the NCMC is affiliated with the New Canaan YMCA, but individual Y membership is not necessary. NCMC membership applications are available here, at the YMCA on South Avenue or at our Friday 10 a.m. meetings at Morrill Hall at St. Mark's Church on Oenoke Ridge. The Book Club

The May book selected title is "Elon Musk: Tesla, Inventing the Future by Ashlee Vance. Vance's book spotlights the technology and vision of Elon Musk, the renowned entrepreneur and innovator behind SpaceX, Tesla and SolarCity, who sold one of his internet companies, PayPal, for $1.5 billion. This readable book explores one of the pressing questions of our age: can the nation of inventors and creators who led the modern world for a century still compete in an age of fierce global competition? Meeting Tues, May 24th, 1:30p at Lapham.

Club selection for June: The Billion Dollar Spy: A True History of Cold War Espionage and Betrayal by David E. Hoffman. Though his efforts were rebuffed four times by the CIA, Adolf Toikachev, and engineer in the Soviet military design bureau eventually became one of the most valuable spies ever for the US. This book is a "stirring, unpredictable, and at times unbearably tense feat of reporting that unfolds like an espionage thriller". We meet on Tuesday, June 28th at Lapham at 1:30pm. Taking summer off. Next meeting: Tuesday, Sept. 27th.
