In February, we'll be reading novels by Georges Simenon, the very prolific Belgian/French/ American writer of everything under the sun. His mysteries, featuring Commissaire Jules Maigret of the Surete, are available in translation at NC Library. Of course all are welcome to read them in the original French. However, our discussion will be held only in English at Lapham. Date/time to be announced at Friday meetings.
In March we will switch gears a bit and discuss an article from the January 27, 2014 issue of "The New Yorker" magazine entitled "Fan Friction" dealing with modern TV Sherlock Holmes wannabes. PBS's "Sherlock, "House", "Bones" "Elementary" and maybe even the Vulcan Spock are grist for the critical mill and our literary discussion. Date and time for the get-together will be announced at SMC Friday Meetings. Brian Hollstein (203-972-0633)
