| July 22, 2008 | Tuesday | Based upon the success of the tour of the Glass House, we have arranged to see additional attractions that make our town so special. From St. Mark's we will car pool to the New Canaan Historical Society where we will begin a walking guided tour of their many unique attractions: Cody Drug Store, the John Rogers Studio (a National Landmark), Rock School, Silliman House and more. We will then proceed to the Little Red School House on Carter Street where you will hear about how our children were taught before the turn of the century. A full course lunch will follow in a private room, Red Barn Inn, with a choice of Certified Black Angus NY Boneless Sirloin, Shrimp Scampi, Chicken or Pasta Primavera.
Cost will be $35 per person, (includes lunch and donation). Check in: TBD Host: Bob Witt (966-2892) |
| August 2008 | No trip is planned for August. | |
| September 18, 2008 | Thursday | Instead of Newport, RI, we will be beguiled by the Waterfalls of New York City, a Public Art Fund project by the renowned Danish artist Olafur Eliasson. To enjoy this totally unique experience we shall leave the St. Marks parking lot at 9:30 am and travel to the South Street Seaport, arriving there about 11:15 am. We will have about 2-1/2 hours to stroll about and enjoy a luncheon on our own before boarding the ship Zephyr for a narrated viewing of the Waterfalls. Upon completion of the cruise we shall return to New Canaan arriving about 5:00pm.
Cost is $53.00 per person. Check in: 9:15 a.m. Your hosts: Ladd Seton (972-8786) and Stan Stanziale (966-2862). |
