Upon receipt of recommendations from any member of SMC to the President of the SMC, a SMC member can be nominated as a "Distinguished Senior New Canaan Man" for having delivered tangible public services of exceptional merit to the New Canaan community. A member of the SMC may be designated as "Distinguished Senior New Canaan Man" after receiving consent from the SMC Board of Directors and a vote at a regular SMC membership meeting.
